Greenhouse Covering – How to Build When building a greenhouse, it is the cover which dictates how much light and heat is to be allowed into the greenhouse. Using a polyethylene film is a cost effective cover and is easy to install and also to maintain. It comes in rolls which can be up to fifty feet wide. This film can be secured with a poly channel lock at the base of the greenhouse. The lock comprises of a silver rail which has a dip in the center along with a liner that fits tightly into the channel. Now, place the silver poly channel lock rails along the sides at the base of the greenhouse frame. Ensure that the zip lines are spaced a foot apart and secure the rail to the frame. Insert tek screws every six inches into the railing and then remove the zip lines. Repeat the same process on all sides of the greenhouse. Next, unroll the film, place it on the top frame of the greenhouse and let the other end of the film down the length of the greenhouse roof. Ensure that your film covers both sides of the greenhouse. Adjust your film so that it hangs evenly. Next, get to the bottom of one side of the frame and gently pull some of the film over the channel in the poly channel lock. Push the plastic liner into the channel and secure the film. Make sure that the film is smooth and is not overstretched. |
